Pentabilities emerged in 2019 from an EU-funded research project and the social and educational passion of its three founders: A Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University, also part of the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Group at the University of Chicago, led by Nobel laureate James Heckman. A Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the University of Minnesota, with over 14 years of experience as a secondary school science teacher. A technology expert with multiple patents and numerous technical and scientific publications. He has worked in fintech and researches the development of technological applications for entrepreneurship. Our history

Caterina Calsamiglia Maria Calsamiglia Jacek Dominiak How did all started? Science supports what Caterina and other researchers think: the development of socio-emotional skills positively influences people’s well-being.
01 Does that sound familiar from neuroscience? Well, thanks to it, we discovered that there are no academic skills without socio-emotional skills, and vice versa.
02 Caterina begins a study to extract a method that allows for educating socio-emotional skills at all levels.
03 She obtains funding from the EU and assembles a team with María and Jacek to integrate the development of these skills in classrooms. María contributes her experience as a researcher and teacher, Jacek his work combining the needs of businesses with technology, and Pentabilities is born.

2024: Pentabilities turns 5 During this time, Pentabilities has been implemented in educational centers and projects from different contexts such as… Pentabilities has been part of a project to improve the opportunities of vulnerable students. The initiative, funded by the EU, has been a golden opportunity to evaluate the impact of the program in the 80 participating centers. Fabilities arises from our work with FabLab@School del Liceu Politecnic during two academic years. We target the four ESO courses to create spaces in the classroom that allow for putting socio-emotional skills into practice. KOA seeks to promote mental health in young people at psychological risk through experiences such as KOA Theater, KOA Adventure, and KOA Music. We implemented the use of Pentabilities among KOA professionals so that they could register and analyze the progress of their boys and girls. Students in a Vulnerable Situation
